Best Remote ID Modules for Drones: How to Choose (2026)

What Remote ID modules do
A broadcast module attaches to your drone. It broadcasts the required info so the aircraft can be identified in flight: the drone's ID, its position and altitude, the control station's position, a time mark, and emergency status. Most run $40β$150 and weigh ~10β30 g.
What to look for
- FAA compliance: it must be on the FAA's list of compliant Remote ID broadcast modules. This is non-negotiable; check before buying.
- Weight: lighter is better; every gram eats into flight time and payload.
- Battery/power: self-powered vs drone-powered; check battery life covers your flights.
- Mounting & compatibility: will it attach cleanly to your specific drone?
- Broadcast range and reliability: solid, consistent broadcasting.
